COLLEGE OF ANAESTHESIOLOGISTS

College of Anaesthesiologists, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, was originally inaugurated as the Chapter of Anaesthesiologists on 16 December 1995. The College is the “academic arm” of anaesthesiologists in the country, and has as its primary objective the advancement of the art and science of anaesthesia and related disciplines.

The Council of the College handles the day-to-day management while academic activities are usually delegated to the Special Interest Groups (SIGs). Each SIG has a Convenor assisted by an expert panel.

The activities of the College include:

  1. Credentialing and Accreditation
  2. Development of Consensus Statements, Clinical Practice Guidelines and Standards of Care
  3. Quality Assurance and Clinical Audit
  4. Organisation of Sub-specialty Scientific meetings
  5. Liaison with sister organisations overseas
  6. Assisting in the facilitation of postgraduate training
  7. Research

The College works closely with the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists in organising events for the benefit of the profession as a whole.
